HORSHAM: Cranes For Peace

Be part of something meaningful and crafty with origami at the Horsham library

In our Cranes For Peace activity, we’ll teach you how to fold paper cranes as part of our community-wide project and explore other origami projects too. (Did you know you can make bouquets of flowers, or dinosaurs, out of just paper?)

This free activity will kickstart our Cranes For Peace Project. Once we have created 1000 paper cranes, a global symbol of peace, we will display the community effort prior to sending them across the sea for display at Japan’s Children’s Peace Memorial.

Who can come? Best suited to children that can confidently fold paper. Children aged 10 and below may need parental assistance with difficult folds. Children older can explore other origami projects that are more challenging.

Parents & Guardians: For our under 13s, parents and guardians are asked to stick around to help their children and learn the art of origami too!

About Origami
Origami, the Japanese paper art, is a form of expression that can help keep us engaged, relaxed, and give us an opportunity to be creative. Research shows that origami can help people recovering
from hand injury or surgeries, improving hand control, fine motor coordination, and building muscles. Origami has also been found to help people with ADHD, anxiety, autism and depression. Join in our Project for Peace and stimulate your brain while your hands are deftly creating symbols of peace.
