NDIS Reforms and Legislative Changes
This session provides an overview of changes introduced through the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Act and is designed to help participants, families, carers, kin, and community members understand how these changes may affect their interaction with the NDIS.
Attendees will learn about the key legislative changes, what they mean for participants now and into the future, and where to access information, guidance, and support.
The session will explore topics including changes to plan reassessments, support determinations, how decisions may be made under the updated legislation, and what participants need to know when using their plan. An estimated timeline of proposed changes will also be provided.
Presentations are developed using publicly available NDIA resources, including information from the NDIS website and operational guidelines. The session provides a summary of the changes currently being introduced. Some changes to the Scheme will take time to implement, and further details about how these changes will operate may still be under development.
This presentation is suitable for NDIS participants, carers, families, and kin, as well as advocacy organisations, peer support networks, carers’ groups, and mainstream services that support people with disability, including health, education, housing, and community services.
These information sessions are facilitated and delivered by the NDIA Community Engagement team.
What is the NDIS?
This session provides an introduction to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and is designed to help participants, families, carers, kin, and community members build their understanding of how the Scheme works.
Attendees will learn about the purpose of the NDIS, who may be eligible, and the different pathways available to access disability supports.
The session will explore key NDIS concepts, including how the Scheme supports people with disability to pursue their goals and increase their independence, the roles and responsibilities of the NDIS and other mainstream services, and what to expect throughout the participant journey.
Participants will also learn where to access information, guidance, and support, and gain a better understanding of the supports and services available through the NDIS.
This presentation is suitable for people who are new to the NDIS, those considering accessing the Scheme, and anyone who would like a better understanding of how the NDIS works.
These information sessions are facilitated and delivered by the NDIA Community Engagement team.
