SUMMARY:HORSHAM: Stories That Stir
DESCRIPTION:Feel inspired with six raw and personal stories on the topic of COURAGE, in all its shapes and forms.\nAbout the event\nStories that Stir® events are designed to break down barriers, stir conversation, and inspire positive change.\nCome and listen to six storytellers, who will each share their raw and personal story on the topic of COURAGE, in all its shapes and forms.\nMonica Rosenfeld and Joram van der Starre, the Founders of Stories that Stir Global will be joining us on the night. Monica will be MCing the event while Joram somatically paints the stories of the storytellers while they share.\nPlease join us for an evening of extraordinary stories that will make you laugh, cry, and view the world in a different light.\nxxx Sally Pymer – Your Horsham Stories that Stir Host\nBook your tickets now. ( https://www.storiesthatstir.com/event-details-registration/stories-that-stir-r-horsham-courage-1 )\nMeet your Storytellers…\nThe Choice – Leigh-Anne Sharland\nFor most of her life, Leigh-Anne thought courage meant pushing through. Working harder. Coping better. Getting back up, no matter what life threw at her. Then her body stopped giving her that choice. A neurological collapse took away abilities she had never imagined losing and forced her to question everything she believed about strength. Her story asks: what if real courage isn’t surviving what hurts us, but choosing differently?\nBreathless – Sally Pymer\nAt 19, Sally was told she had permanent lung obstruction and would have emphysema by 40. She refused to let that prediction decide her future. What followed was decades of questioning, pushing limits and discovering what her body could do, from becoming a triathlete to completing the 87km Comrades Ultramarathon and qualifying for the World 70.3 Championships. This is a story about defiance, resilience, unexpected possibilities and refusing to let someone else write your ending.\nShattered pieces – Stacey Ellis\nOnce a fully active, functioning working wife and mum of 3, in a flick of a switch that all changed. Stacey was overcome by darkness, uncertainty and an inability to function day to day basis. This story is about her courage to fight back and reclaim her life.\nLife Interrupted – Teisha Rose\nTeisha Rose received a phone call that changed everything. What followed became a “trilogy of health experiences” no one would aspire to: multiple sclerosis, stage 4 breast cancer and a near-fatal health crisis. Teisha discovered that hope is not certainty or pretending everything will be okay. It is believing we can still have an impact when life is interrupted.\nStill Here – Shania James\nSome lives are shaped by a single defining moment. Shania’s was shaped by many. From a challenging childhood to surviving abuse, becoming the mother of an extremely premature baby, and rebuilding after severe postpartum mental illness. This is not a story about what happened to her, it’s about how she found the courage to keep showing up, and discovering strength she never knew she had.\nBecoming Unsinkable – Meduline\nMeduline came to Australia from France to improve her English before returning home. Instead, she found herself trapped in an abusive relationship she did not recognise. Intelligence did not protect her, and leaving did not end the abuse. Her recovery was neither quick nor easy. After years of persistence, she overcame depression and reclaimed herself, developing the inner strength that would help her face even greater challenges.\n \n* Trigger warning: Story content may include sensitive topics such as trauma, suicide, death etc.\n*18+ event\n
